Infection surveillance

The steps for infection surveillance are described in detail in the protocol: Surveillance of nosocomial infections in intensive care units. The three most common types of nosocomial infections on the ITS (Intensive care unit) - lower respiratory tract infections, septicaemia and urinary tract infections (indicator infections) - must be recorded. The use of devices (e.g. urinary catheter, CVC, ventilation tube) is also taken into account in the analysis. The recording of other infections (such as ventricular drainage-associated meningitis) is optional.
